Hurford Programs is one of the top youth exchange programs, connecting selected participants with global networks, democracy movements, and youth organizations from all over the world. The Hurford youth fellowship’s major goal is to teach future young democracy advocates and develop their leadership skills.
In this program, the young leaders will conduct research, attend meetings, give presentations, participate in online group discussions, and attend all other essential sessions on democracy concerns.
The international fellowship program spans a period of 3 months and will be held in Washington D.C. from March 1 to May 31, 2024. There is no application fee required to apply for the program.
The Selection of candidates will be based on their work experience and their commitment to collaborative efforts and the promotion of democracy.
The selection process will involve the participation of regional program staff from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the staff of the World Movement Secretariat, and members of the Hurford Youth Fellowship Alumni Network.
The Hurford Youth Leadership Program offers a comprehensive leadership experience in the United States, with all expenses fully funded by the organization. Selected participants will receive financial support, including a monthly stipend for living expenses, basic health insurance coverage, and roundtrip travel to and from Washington, D.C.

Who is Eligible?
- All Nationals: Applicants of any nationality and from any country are eligible to apply for the Hurford Youth Fellows Program.
- Age Limit: Applicants must be no older than 30 years of age.
- Interest in Democratic Activism: Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in democratic activism and a commitment to promoting democracy both in their local communities and on a global scale. We particularly encourage young individuals associated with civil society organizations to apply.
- English Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication within the program. Applicants should have a good command of the English language to actively participate and engage in discussions and activities.

Two Letters of Recommendation
You are required to submit two letters of recommendation. These letters should come from individuals who can speak to your qualifications, skills, and character. It is preferable that the recommenders are familiar with your academic or professional work and can provide valuable insights about your abilities and potential.
Please ensure that all sections of the Applicant Form are completed accurately and thoroughly. Incomplete application forms will not be considered.
